Banquet Captain / Restaurant Lead
The Brunswick Hotel is seeking an experienced, hands-on Banquet Captain to lead the successful execution of weddings, meetings, social gatherings, and other special events.
This position serves as the primary day-of contact for event planners and is responsible for ensuring every event is set up, staffed, executed, and closed out according to the Banquet Event Order and our service standards. During slower banquet periods, this position will also work as a supervisor and service lead in Noble Kitchen & Bar, providing consistent leadership and supporting the restaurant team.
Key Responsibilities
Banquets and Events
- Lead the setup, execution, and breakdown of banquet events.
- Review Banquet Event Orders and communicate event details and attend weekly BEO meetings and raise questions or concerns before each event.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the event planner or host on the day of the event.
- Direct and support banquet servers, bartenders, and other event staff.
- Conduct pre-shift meetings and clearly communicate assignments, timelines, service expectations, and event details.
- Coordinate with the kitchen on food timing, presentation, buffet setup, dietary restrictions, and special requests.
- Ensure event spaces are set accurately and on time, including tables, chairs, linens, place settings, bars, beverage stations, signage, and other requested items.
- Order linens and coordinate rentals, supplies, and other event needs (with Sales).
- Monitor service throughout each event and respond quickly and professionally to guest or planner requests.
- Ensure food safety, alcohol-service, sanitation, and hotel standards are consistently followed.
- Complete accurate event postings, according the event orders.
- Complete detailed post-event logs for management, documenting attendance, service notes, client feedback, operational concerns, and follow-up needs.
- Oversee event breakdown, proper storage of equipment and supplies, and the cleanliness and organization of event spaces.
- Assist with banquet inventory and notify management of purchasing, maintenance, or replacement needs.
Noble Kitchen & Bar Leadership
- Serve as a supervisor and service lead in Noble Kitchen & Bar during slower banquet periods.
- Support opening and closing procedures and oversee the restaurant floor as assigned.
- Lead pre-shift meetings and communicate daily service priorities, specials, reservations, and operational updates.
- Assist with training, coaching, and supporting restaurant team members.
- Maintain service standards and help ensure a positive, efficient guest experience.
- Coordinate with the kitchen, bar, and hotel teams throughout service.
- Assist with guest concerns and resolve issues professionally.
- Support side-work completion, cash-handling procedures, and accurate POS use.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the hotel’s Food & Beverage operations.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, or hospitality leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of full-service food and beverage operations.
- Excellent organization, communication, and time-management skills.
- Confidence leading a team and serving as the primary contact for event planners.
- Ability to read and execute detailed BEOs accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to anticipate operational needs.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with POS systems and accurate event billing or posting.
- Ability to lift and move banquet equipment and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Responsible alcohol-service and food-safety certifications are preferred or must be obtained after hire.

Pay: $24.80 - $29.86 per hour
