We provide professional Alzheimer's care for up to nine residents in each of our neighborhood homes. Family owned with deficiency free status with the State of Kansas. STRUCTURE AND RESPONSIBILITY
· The Care Specialist provides direct personal care services to the Residents in the home and assures that all company policies and procedures, caregiver standards and Resident Rights are observed in the Home at all times.
· The Care Specialist coordinates all home activities with the Team Leader and reports to the Team Leader and Nurse(s).
MAJOR DUTIES
- Supervises and assists with medications to Residents in accordance with training standards and assures that Medication Administration Records, Resident Logs and other records are kept up to date.
- Is knowledgeable regarding resident behavior problems; effect and effectiveness of medications; changes in behavior, appetite and sleeping patterns. Reports any significant changes to the Nurse(s).
- Interacts with residents, families, neighbors, vendors and staff in a professional manner, documents doctor’s appointments, family outings, and other pertinent information.
- Fulfills all Kansas Department of Health and Environment requirements and stays current on ALL required certifications.
- Assists with seasonal decorating; participates in, directs and supervises daily and weekly activities with the Residents as outlined on the Monthly Activity Calendar.
- Assists Residents to assure that personal needs are completely met in a timely manner and that the Negotiated Service Agreement for each resident is followed; recommendations to be reported to the Team Leader and/or Nurse(s) every six (6) months and with changes of condition. Care Specialists are required to be able to lift 50 pounds or more. This requirement is related to the safety of our residents and is not subject to modification or limitation.
- Prepares and follows the menus which meet nutritional standards; uses food as a fun and exciting activity for residents and families.
- Notifies Team leader when any supplies are running low to ensure adequate supplies are ALWAYS on hand.
- Becomes familiar with licensing regulations and assures compliance with all requirements, particularly fire and safety requirements.
- Participates in ALL staff education meetings
- Communicates with the Team Leader regarding any resident/family problems to ensure these are promptly discussed and resolved.
- When on duty, keeps the home clean, orderly, and promptly reports any problems or issues, etc. to the Team Leader, Nurse(s) and/or Operator as appropriate.
- On request, assists with the sales presentation and professional tours of the home.
- Monitors upkeep of the yard, trash removal, and refers any problems to the Nurse(s); monitors all equipment in the home, the condition of the house/furniture/floors and refers any issues to the Team Leader, Nurse(s) and/or Operator as appropriate.
- Maintains Logs regarding all maintenance and cleaning performed at the house.
- Understands and implements the Jolene Brackey “Philosophy” in caring for our residents.
- Performs other reasonable duties requested by the Nurse(s) and successfully embodies the SeniorCare “Vision of Care” by providing exceptional care and support to our Residents and families.
