We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and safety-minded Driver to join our growing Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) team.
In this role, you will provide safe, door-through-door transportation for patients, elderly individuals, and individuals with disabilities traveling to medical appointments, dialysis treatments, rehabilitation centers, and more.
You are the face of our company, and your primary goal is to deliver exceptional service while ensuring the highest safety and comfort for our passengers.
Key Responsibilities
- Transportation: Operate company-provided vans, minivans, or wheelchair-accessible vehicles in strict compliance with all Massachusetts and Rhode Island traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Passenger Assistance: Provide physical assistance ("door-through-door" care) to passengers entering and exiting the vehicle, including the proper loading, securing, and unloading of wheelchairs and mobility devices.
- Vehicle Inspections: Conduct mandatory daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections (checking fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, and safety equipment) and report any maintenance needs immediately.
- Schedule & Navigation: Utilize GPS navigation and dispatch software to follow scheduled routes efficiently, adapt to traffic changes, and ensure on-time arrivals.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate daily trip logs, mileage records, and incident reports as required by state and company regulations.
- Communication: Maintain professional, courteous, and clear communication with dispatch, passengers, and medical facility staff.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensing: Valid Massachusetts or Rhode Island Driver’s License with a clean driving record (no major violations or recent at-fault accidents).
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of licensed driving experience; professional driving or caregiving experience is highly preferred.
- Background Screening: Must successfully pass a mandatory criminal background check (CORI), Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) check, and a pre-employment drug screening.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs, bend, kneel, and assist passengers using wheelchairs or stretchers.
- Must be at least 21 years old for insurance purposes.
Preferred Skills & Certifications (Training will be provided if necessary)
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Completed Defensive Driving training.
- Certified in PASS (Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity) or equivalent wheelchair securement training.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
