Title: Back of House Team Member
Direct Report: Back of House Supervisor
OVERVIEW
As a Back of House (BOH) Team Member, you will be an integral part of our day-to-day kitchen team and will work to prepare a wide variety of dishes. Your primary responsibilities include stocking and preparing stations, cooking and plating food, communicating and working within a team, and maintaining cleanliness throughout the back of house area. Our ideal candidate will be communicative, organized, professional, and motivated.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure a high level of guest satisfaction through consistent food quality and presentation.
- Prepare, cook, and plate orders according to specified recipes.
- Portion and prepare ingredients needed for service.
- Manage portioned and prepared stock levels to standard.
- Execute both routine and deep cleaning tasks of stations and the back of house area.
- Wash dishes, take out trash, and filter and change fryer oil as directed.
- Demonstrate proficiency on three unique kitchen stations - pizza, fry, and grill.
- Identify kitchen needs and move from station to station with ease to complete orders.
- Effectively manage several tasks, orders, tickets, and directions at once.
- Communicate clearly with other team members, supervisors, and leads.
- Display knowledge of health codes and restaurant policies.
- Maintain food safety standards through proper cleanliness, glove hygiene, food temperature monitoring, and raw meat awareness.
- Act professionally and courteously in a semi-open kitchen environment with a diverse crew of team members.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, split shifts, volume shifts, and long shifts.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry heavy loads up and down stairs.
- Must be able to squat, bend, twist, lift, and stretch.
- Must be able to stand and tolerate high room temperatures for long periods of time.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Food Safety Card.
