We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) to join our security team in a large retail environment. The LPO plays a critical role in protecting company assets, reducing shrink, and ensuring a safe and secure shopping experience for customers and employees.
Position Overview:
The Loss Prevention Officer is responsible for preventing theft, monitoring store activity, and supporting overall store security operations. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to remain professional in high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor CCTV systems for real-time store activity
- Monitor customers and employees for suspicious or dishonest activity
- Prevent shoplifting, internal theft, fraud, and organized retail crime
- Respond to suspected theft in accordance with company policy and applicable laws
- Maintain a visible and professional presence to deter theft
- Review video footage related to incidents or concerns
- Document suspicious behavior accurately and objectively
- Assist with investigations involving theft, fraud, or inventory loss
- Coordinate with store management and law enforcement when necessary
- Complete detailed and accurate incident reports for all cases
- Support store staff with loss prevention procedures and awareness
- Maintain professionalism in all interactions, including stressful or confrontational situations
- Identify and report trends related to theft or shrinkage
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and observation skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
- Respond to suspected theft in accordance with company policy and applicable laws
- High level of integrity and professionalism
- Ability to follow company policies and procedures consistently
- Understanding of theft prevention and loss control practices preferred
- Be at least 18 years
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- A valid Michigan driver's license will be required
