Box Office & Marketing Assistant

The Greenwich Odeum, one of Rhode Island’s beloved historic theaters, winning "Best Venue Statewide" by Rhode Island Monthly the last three years, is preparing to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2026 — a century of live music, film, and community connection. We are seeking a Box Office Professional who is detail-oriented, reliable, able to handle multitasking, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
This role bridges customer service, ticketing operations, assisting with social media marketing, and team coordination. The ideal candidate is available for will call at all shows and box office hours, proactive professional with exceptional communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate and respond to urgent needs with poise and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Box Office Operations
- Open and manage the box office for all scheduled shows and events, and box office hours.
- Handle ticket sales, will-call lists, comp tickets, and guest lists with accuracy and professionalism.
- Maintain and reconcile cash and credit transactions nightly with precision.
- Provide an exceptional guest experience, ensuring every interaction is excecuted through and in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot ticketing issues quickly and calmly to ensure smooth operations.
Administrative & Communication Support
- Monitor the venue’s general Box Office and Info email inbox and ensure timely, accurate responses.
- Coordinate with internal departments on event updates, ticketing information, and marketing initiatives.
- Assist in updating volunteer schedules, marketing calendars, and other internal communications.
Volunteer Coordination
- Schedule, check in, and support volunteers during events.
- Lead pre-show volunteer briefings and delegate responsibilities effectively.
Team Support & Problem Solving
- Provide assistance to other departments once box office duties are completed.
- Address customer or staff issues professionally and calmly, maintaining a positive, solution-focused attitude.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities; able to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced, live-event environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with ticketing software, POS systems, and major social media platforms.
- Experience handling cash and credit transactions with a high degree of accuracy.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and possible holidays as scheduled.
- Ability to help update marquee by being able to handle heights.
- Professionalism, punctuality, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset are essential.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
