Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and bilingual Child Welfare Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will work directly with children and families to promote safety, stability, and well-being. Your expertise will help navigate complex situations involving child protective services, family dynamics, and behavioral health, ensuring that children receive the care they deserve while supporting families through challenging circumstances.
Duties
- Conduct thorough assessments of child safety and family needs in accordance with mandated reporting laws.
- Engage with children and families using motivational interviewing techniques to foster trust and encourage positive change.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict management during high-stress situations to ensure safety for all parties involved.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized service plans that address childhood development, behavioral health, and family dynamics.
- Assist families in understanding child welfare processes, including legal requirements related to family law and childcare.
- Document case progress accurately and maintain detailed records in compliance with agency policies.
- Offer support and guidance to children with disabilities or special needs, ensuring their unique requirements are met effectively.
Skills
- Proficient in motivational interviewing and crisis intervention strategies.
- Strong experience working with children, families, and individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of child protective services protocols, mandated reporting laws, and family law.
- Excellent conflict management skills combined with the ability to handle crisis situations calmly.
- Deep understanding of childhood development principles and behavioral health issues.
