Overview
We are seeking energetic and dependable General Laborers to join our team! In this vital role, you will support our recycling and demolition operations by performing physically demanding tasks, adhering to safety standards, and assisting with material handling. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to environmentally conscious initiatives while gaining valuable hands-on experience in manufacturing and industrial settings.
Responsibilities
- Sort, separate, inspect, and handle incoming and processed material
- Move, stage, and organize material, bins, tools, and containers
- Assist production crews in front-of-line, end-of-line, pucks, rerun, and other assigned areas
- Maintain clean floors, walkways, workstations, and equipment areas
- Safely remove loose material and routine production debris
- Watch for contamination, material problems, jams, spills, and unsafe conditions
- Immediately report safety concerns and equipment problems
- Assist with equipment startup, shutdown, and changeovers under the direction of trained operators
- Perform basic visual equipment checks and report anything unusual
- Follow PPE requirements, traffic rules, restricted-area rules, and all plant safety procedures
- Communicate clearly when changing assignments or supporting another production crew
- Complete basic production or material records when assigned
- Perform other plant-support duties based on production needs and training
Experience
- Manufacturing or production
- Recycling or scrap processing
- Warehousing or material handling
- Construction, landscaping, or agricultural work
- Working around forklifts, loaders, or industrial machinery
- Using hand tools or performing industrial housekeeping
Minimum Qualifications
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Willingness to work a physically active 12-hour shift
- Willingness to rotate among different plant assignments
- Ability to follow verbal and written safety instructions
- Ability to communicate hazards, equipment problems, and production issues
- Ability to work independently when assigned and cooperatively as part of a crew
- Positive attitude, attention to surroundings, and willingness to accept coaching
- No diploma or previous scrap-processing experience required
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Frequently stand and walk for extended periods
- Regularly bend, reach, squat, climb steps, push, and pull
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently
- Use team lifting or mechanical assistance for heavier or awkward items
- Work both inside the plant and outdoors in changing weather conditions
- Work around moving equipment, vehicle traffic, machinery, noise, dust, uneven surfaces, heat, and cold
- Wear required PPE in all designated areas
Training and Advancement
General laborers receive hands-on training for their assigned tasks and plant areas. Employees who demonstrate dependable attendance, safe work habits, strong performance, and the ability to learn may be considered for additional training on forklifts, skid steers, and production equipment.
Equipment training and advancement depend on demonstrated readiness, successful completion of required training or certification, and plant needs.

Pay: $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 – 60.0 per week
