This position is on a rotating schedule and will work both 7 am-7 pm and 7 pm - 7 am.

Summary/Objective:
The Maintenance Technician (Electro-Tech) troubleshoots, maintains, tests and repairs electrical, mechanical, Mechatronics, Hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components. Maintenance Techs apply knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and Mechatronic principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skills to support all areas of manufacturing including AC/DC powered drives, servos, electrical and mechanical components, and PLC trouble shooting capabilities.
Essential Functions:
- Troubleshoots and repairs equipment.
- Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures.
- Performs preventive maintenance functions.
- Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and electro-mechanical equipment, including programmable controllers, variable frequency drives, sensors, power supplies, powered and mechanical drives, gauges and test equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies & Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical assistance and resolution when electrical, mechanical or electro-mechanical problems occur.
- Assemble electrical, electronic, electro-mechanical systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical and electro-mechanical principles, using hand tools, powered tools, and measuring instruments.
- Install and maintain electrical/electronic control systems, electro-mechanical systems, and solid state equipment.
- Modify electrical and electro-mechanical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations.
- Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record results.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering and other personnel to identify, define, and solve developmental problems.
- Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical, electro-mechanical instruments, and/or testing equipment.
- Willing to work over normal shift for break downs or shift coverage with little or no notice.
- Willing and with the ability to work on electrical/electronic/programming issues on all equipment both alone and with electrical engineer.
- Willing and with the ability to work on mechanical issues on all equipment and use the machining equipment to make parts both alone and with the Mechanical engineers.
- Willing and with the ability to work on winder/wrapper/casepacker/casesealer/robot equipment to make, tweak, and save programs for trials and normal production runs. Along with working with QC and packaging engineers to develop new products and their spec’s.
- Willing and with the ability to teach, mentor, and lead other Maintenance Personnel on Equipment installs equipment repairs, equipment modifications, equipment PM’s, and other work procedures.
- Able to write/make up and teach work procedures for both Maintenance. Personnel and Production Personnel for both Production and Maintenance. Issues.
- Willing to fill in as Maintenance Lead when Maintenance Supervisors are absent.
- Willing to learn and help with Building Maintenance Issues.
- Demonstrate proficiency in reading/writing English.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment:
This requires work in a manufacturing environment with some airborne paper, moving mechanical parts, industrial lighting, air that is not conditioned, and safety-toe, safety glasses, hearing protection required.
Working Relationships:
Internal:
- Reports to the Maintenance (Electro Tech) Supervisor for general direction.
- Works closely with Asset Leaders, Shift Supervisors, Engineering, Maintenance teams, and production operators to resolve operational problems.
External:
- Outside vendors/contractors
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Formal training certification on industrial equipment from technical training institutions such as Francis Tuttle Technology Center.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical and electrical trade position in a highly technical manufacturing environment.
- Robot, case packer and wrapper troubleshooting experience.
- PLC troubleshooting and programming.
- Paper converting facility experience.
Physical Demands / Expected hours of work:
The position is required to work in a dusty environment, with noise levels up to 90 dB
This position needs to safely lift up to 60 lbs. as needed**, lifting and twisting up to 100 times in an 8 - 12-hour period.
- Must be able to sit, bend, stand, climb stairs and walk during scheduled shift.
- Must be able to work 12-hour shifts and rotations.
- Must be flexible and responsive to the needs of the department/ business.
- Must wear PPE per company regulations.

- Available to be called in for shift coverage and breakdowns during off-shift hours.
