As a Barista, you will embody and promote our core values by acting as the face of the joy business, prioritizing Celebrating Service to ensure every customer and teammate feels a sense of genuine connection. You will Give a Damn by mastering the small details of every pour, Assume the Best to maintain harmony behind the bar, and Embrace Growth as you refine your craft, all while Finding the Fun during the high-energy rush
Essential Functions:
- Have a passion for people, coffee, and community.
- Have 1 year minimum retail, fast food, or customer service experience. Barista experience is not necessary but a plus.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Be able to work shifts that are scheduled in 6-8 hour time blocks.
- Be available 4 days or more per week, including Saturdays (requests off are permitted on a first come, first serve basis and black out dates apply).
- Be able to work some holidays
- Be able to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 25 lbs., and work in a fast paced, close quarters space.
As a Barista at Sparrows you will be expected to:
- Maintain a presence on the cafe floor to assist guests and team members
- Maintain a clean and clutter free cafe
- Maintain knowledge of products, coffee, tea, brewing methods, etc.
- Follow Schuil/Sparrows customer service standards, encouraging friendliness, knowledge, and a dedicated level of assistance to each customer
- Ensure and maintain the quality of all products offered to our guests
- Resolve customer complaints/issues in a timely manner, escalate issues to cafe manager as necessary.
- Ensure all shift responsibilities are completed
- Reasonable and predictable attendance required, which may include overtime, evenings, and weekends as needed.

- Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods
- Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or position production samples or materials weighing up to [e.g., 30–50] pounds.
