Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled mobile Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT). The primary focus of this role is performing diagnostics, routine maintenance, repairs, and specialized upfits on a variety of emergency response vehicles, including electrical and specialty equipment installation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly professional, and committed to maintaining the highest safety and quality standards in the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, diagnose, and accurately document potential issues and necessary repairs on emergency vehicles.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, scheduled service, and complex mechanical repairs on a diverse fleet of emergency vehicles.
- Execute specialized upfits and upgrades, including the installation of a variety of emergency equipment such as electrical systems (12v and 120v), LED lighting, sirens, push bumpers, and interior/exterior specialized gear.
- Maintain meticulous and accurate service and repair records using established systems.
- Manage and process warranty registration and claim documentation for apparatus manufacturers, ensuring accurate data entry, timely submission of required forms, and effective coordination between fleet managers and manufacturers to resolve warranty coverage disputes.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, providing status updates and technical explanations.
- Work collaboratively with fellow team members while also demonstrating the ability to manage tasks independently.
- Strictly adhere to all industry safety protocols and company procedures at all times.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive or heavy equipment repair.
- Specific experience and proficiency with low-voltage (12v) and standard-voltage (120v) electrical systems.
- Must possess a good selection of personal hand and power tools necessary for the trade.
- Valid Driver's License and dependable personal transportation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong critical thinking, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, along with effective time management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, depending on job requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specific experience maintaining and repairing heavy-duty vehicles and/or emergency vehicles.
- Current EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certifications.
- Welding and fabrication skills.
- Experience and proficiency using advanced diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License).
- Proficient in google docs, diagnostic programs and other computer applications.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with regular hours and potential overtime as needed.
- Work is performed primarily in a shop environment. Employees are exposed to loud noises, heavy machinery, and various cleaning and maintenance chemicals.
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is provided and mandatory during work hours.
- The role requires heavy physical labor, including frequent heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds or more), as well as regular bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for prolonged periods.
