Mechanical Engineer I
Location: Columbus, OH
Duration: Full time, Direct Hire
Salary: Starting at $60,000 annually, with potential for a higher salary based on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Supports mechanical design deliverables (design and documentation) required for the development of new or enhanced models of power protection equipment such as Switchboards, Power Distribution Units, and Power Panels.
- Working with others cross-functionally to deliver designs in a timely manner with high-quality deliverables that meet customer expectations and project requirements
- Contributes to design reviews and verification following the established design review process, providing feedback on designs and making modifications
- Designing and releasing mechanical prototypes, supporting the fabrication of those prototypes, and leading the improvement process following prototype fabrication
- Leading small projects independently, taking responsibility for organizing all engineering efforts to meet the requirements of the project
- Working with all areas of the business (production, supply chain, service, etc.) to ensure products being developed or enhanced meet the needs of the entire business
- Supports product customization, life cycle management, ECN, and product optimization efforts.
Basic Qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
- 2+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sound knowledge of power protection equipment and the datacenter market, as well as interpreting and applying electrical safety standards (UL, IEC) as they apply to our product offering.
- 2+ years’ experience modeling in Solidworks CAD design software including thermal and structural evaluation
- Experience with PLM software a plus
- Knowledge sheet metal design, detail part drawings, assembly drawings, and design for manufacturing in all the above.
- A collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
- Ability to manage workload while contributing to a positive, team-oriented work environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Technical writing experience a plus
- Experience with test fixtures and design a plus
- Experience with Switchboards, Power Distributions Units, UL 891, UL 508 panels a plus.
