JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, set up, operate, troubleshoot, repair and maintain paper converting & packaging machinery along with related equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
- Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
- Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, set up, operate, test and make adjustments.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines and all related equipment.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
- Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to management.
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
- Previous knowledge of the paper converting industry (Sheeters, Rewinders, Ream Wrapper & Case Packer Machinery) is a plus but not required.
- Previous knowledge of supporting equipment including (Case labelers, Glue systems, Conveyors & Strapping equipment a plus but not required.
Other Functions
- Must be able to do maintenance (repairs and preventative) on machines to keep them running efficiently.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and assignments at one time.
- Use of different types of lifts: forklifts, clamps, tow motor, and hand lifts.
- Use of different types of tools, for example: utility knife, allen wrenches, tape measure, crescent wrench.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Daily contact requiring courtesy, discretion and sound judgment. Understand they are a representative of the employer.
- Required to perform all other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
