Pulakos Chocolates is seeking a full-time Assistant Candy Maker to join our production team in Erie, PA. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and wants to learn the art of confection making with a long-standing locally owned company.
The Assistant Candy Maker operates kitchen equipment such as large mixers, stoves, cutters, and large pots safely and efficiently while training alongside experienced candy makers to help produce high-quality confections.
Responsibilities
- Mix and/or cook candies in batches according to company standards and recipes
- Read and understand formulas, measurements, recipes, and thermometers
- Monitor multiple batches or processes at one time
- Operate kitchen and power equipment safely
- Assist with washing, cleanup, stocking inventory, and moving materials
- Lift and move products and ingredients up to 50 lbs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of production areas
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to read and understand recipes and perform basic math
- Able to routinely stand, bend, stoop, lift overhead, and work on hard surfaces during an 8-hour shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and dependable transportation required
- Ability to work in a repetitive, fast-paced environment
- Team lifting and all-day standing required
- Food service, bakery, or kitchen experience preferred but not required
- Food Safety certifications are a plus
Schedule
- Monday-Friday
- 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Additional hours may be required for holidays
- Some Saturdays needed, but schedule is flexible overall
