Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated Thereputic Day School. In this role, you will assess, plan, and implement personalized therapy programs to improve patients' functional abilities across various settings. Your expertise will support individuals grades K-12, helping them regain independence and enhance their quality of life. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ physical, cognitive, and emotional needs using established clinical techniques and medical terminology.
- For documenting your sessions, you would have a login for our electronic health record as well as documentation in Compu-Claim for the school districts to receive reimbursement for their students receiving OT services as part of their individual education plan (IEP) at our special education school.
- There may also be a need for you to attend occasional PPTs as appropriate (e.g. when OT services may be added/changing/ending).
- Develop tailored occupational therapy plans that address specific goals related to daily living activities, mobility, and workplace ergonomics.
- Implement therapy interventions across diverse environments including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, sub-acute care facilities, and academic settings.
- Utilize manual handling techniques safely while supporting patients with weight handling in the workplace or during transfers.
- Apply physiology and anatomy knowledge to evaluate patient progress and modify treatment strategies accordingly.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, safety procedures such as CPR, and occupational health best practices.
- Maintain detailed documentation of therapy sessions, progress notes, and treatment outcomes in compliance with healthcare standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care and optimal recovery outcomes.
Experience
- Proven occupational therapy experience in academia.
- Hands-on experience working in inpatient settings, outpatient clinics, or sub-acute care facilities.
- Strong background in occupational health principles and workplace weight handling protocols.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and CPR certification is essential.
- Technical proficiency with therapy equipment and documentation systems used in school settings.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt interventions for diverse populations.
- Prior school based experience managing cases involving outpatient therapy.
- Must have a current Occupational Therapist license
