Job Summary
Willowcrest School is a progressive and holistic learning environment designed specifically for neurodivergent children ages 4 to 12. We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Special Education Teacher to join our team. We offer an integrated program combining individualized academics with embedded therapeutic supports—including speech, occupational, behavioral, and music therapies—all in one full-day setting. Our team is dedicated to helping children with ASD thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. The Special Education Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing individualized and group curriculum for neurodivergent students, and for working collaboratively with a team of therapists, teachers, and parents. This is a full-time, salaried position reporting to the Executive Director and Clinical Director.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals.
- Create curriculum and classroom activities that support language, social, motor, and academic development.
- Conduct student assessments and use results to inform instruction.
- Use evidence-based teaching strategies and multi-sensory learning techniques.
- Collaborate with therapists and staff in weekly interdisciplinary meetings (CLINIC).
- Write and update student goals in coordination with therapy and school teams.
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress.
- Communicate thoughtfully and consistently with parents, offering regular updates and support.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom culture.
- Participate in school events, trainings, and curriculum development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Valid California Education Specialist Credential (Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe) or equivalent.
- At least 2 years of experience teaching or working with neurodivergent children.
- Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress tracking.
- Strong understanding of learning differences, social-emotional development, and inclusive education practices.
- Ability to collaborate in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- A passion for working with children and families in a meaningful, high-impact environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $$89,000-$110,000 annually (paid over 12 months)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Work Year: 10-month academic year + 5 week summer session
- Paid Time Off: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer breaks & select national holidays
