The function of this position is to monitor and maximize the performance of a high-volume shipping department, implement operational improvement, and handle department day-to-day supervision and employee training.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily shipping operations; working with shipping vendors to facilitate on-time shipments and service to our customers.
- Drive the operational performance at the facility level; focusing on productivity, quality, and cost.
- Manage daily facility workload planning and forecasting; staffing, equipment and space
- Supervise shipping department staff; to ensure maximum productivity, efficiency and quality standards
- Oversee processing of UPS and FedEx shipping software that will be utilized in a high-volume shipping department.
- Supervising, training and hiring of employees to work in the shipping department.
- Manage (FTL/LTL/OTR) shipments, including securing and managing appropriate vendors;
- Handling questions or concerns of shipping shortages or overages and addressing any problems through appropriate channels.
- Monitor service levels to ensure that performance metrics meet customer requirements and are communicated appropriately.
- Monitor the process of all merchandise returns or refusals.
- Understands the process of all administrative tasks in the Shipping department to ensure correct accounting and invoice reconciliation.
- Ensure company policies are communicated, administered, and enforced.
- Safety expert and example for the department; uphold safety policies
- Other projects assigned as needed in support of the full warehouse and shipping operation
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years inventory, shipping, and receiving supervising experience, required
· Minimum 5 years in freight carrier selection and negotiation, required
· Must have prior experience with facility and equipment safety
· Must have experience with physical inventory and cycle counts
· ERP system
· Strong computer skills
· Must have experience training employees on procedures and warehouse equipment
- Prior experience creating standard operating procedures

Pay: $29.00 - $30.00 per hour
