D2 Construction & Development is seeking an experienced Demolition Equipment Operator to safely operate excavators, skid steers, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment on commercial and structural demolition projects. The operator will perform controlled demolition, material separation, debris processing, loading, site cleanup, and excavation work while protecting surrounding structures, personnel, and utilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate excavators, wheel loaders, skid steers, and other demolition equipment safely and efficiently.
- Use buckets, hydraulic thumbs, grapples, concrete processors, breakers, pulverizers, magnets, and steel shears.
- Perform structural, selective, interior, concrete, and site demolition.
- Separate concrete, structural steel, rebar, nonferrous metals, and mixed C&D debris.
- Process and size demolition material for loading, hauling, recycling, or onsite reuse.
- Load roll-off dumpsters, dump trucks, and trailers without overloading or damaging containers.
- Work safely around buildings, underground utilities, overhead hazards, other equipment, and ground personnel.
- Complete daily equipment inspections and report leaks, damage, excessive wear, or mechanical problems.
- Perform routine maintenance, including checking fluids, greasing attachments, cleaning equipment, and maintaining a safe cab.
- Follow the superintendent’s demolition sequence, exclusion zones, lift plans, safety requirements, and hand signals.
- Communicate effectively with spotters, laborers, truck drivers, supervisors, and other equipment operators.
- Assist with general site work when equipment is not operating.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment on demolition, excavation, land-clearing, or heavy civil projects.
- Ability to safely perform precise work near structures, personnel, utilities, and active facilities.
- Understanding of equipment capacities, stability, working radius, attachment limitations, and changing ground conditions.
- Ability to identify unsafe conditions and stop work when necessary.
- Dependable transportation and ability to report to projects on time.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.
- Willingness to work extended hours or weekends when project schedules require it.
- Ability to pass applicable background checks, drug screening, and site-access requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of demolition equipment experience. Please provide evidence.
- Experience operating excavators.
- Experience with concrete processors, hydraulic breakers, grapples, magnets, pulverizers, and steel shears.
- Experience performing structural steel, precast concrete, reinforced-concrete, and multi-story building demolition.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience working on federal or USACE projects.
- CDL or experience moving equipment is beneficial but not required.
- Must be able to access Fort Bragg.
Pay: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour
