Exercise Specialist Job Description
An Exercise Specialist acts as a critical bridge between clinical rehabilitation and general fitness. This includes designing, planning, and implementing customized physical activity programs for individuals recovering from injuries or managing acute and chronic health conditions. The primary objective of this role is to improve a patient's mobility, strength, flexibility, and cardiorespiratory function.
The Core Responsibilities Include:
Conducting Assessments: Measure essential health indicators. These include body composition, blood pressure, oxygen usage, and heart rhythms.
Designing Custom Workouts: Create personalized exercise prescriptions. These are tailored to individual medical histories, physical limitations, and unique wellness goals.
Demonstrating Form: Instruct patients on how to use fitness and rehabilitation equipment safely. This ensures proper movement execution to maximize therapeutic benefit and prevent injury.
Monitoring Progress: Supervise live exercise sessions directly. Track exertion levels and dynamically adjust routines based on real-time feedback.
Educating Patients: Provide expert guidance on safe lifestyle modifications. Teach movement techniques and deliver health education to promote long-term behavior change.
Documenting Care: Write detailed daily patient encounter notes. Maintain clinical accuracy by formatting all documentation using the SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan) framework.
Maintaining patient privacy and protecting operations by keeping confidential information.
