Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong commitment to providing excellent service to both pets and their owners. This role involves working directly with animals in a kennel environment, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being while maintaining cleanliness and organization within the facility.
Duties
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising dogs and other pets.
- Clean and maintain kennel areas, ensuring a hygienic environment for all animals.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to veterinary staff or management.
- Assist with animal restraint during grooming or medical procedures as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of pet care activities and customer interactions.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their animals' needs and well-being.
- Support the team in handling heavy lifting tasks related to animal care supplies and equipment.
- Complete a daily and weekly cleaning task schedule to ensure the hospital runs efficiently and cleanly.
Skills
- Strong animal handling skills, including knowledge of animal restraint techniques and reading their body language.
- Familiarity with kennel operations and pet care best practices is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills to interact positively with pet owners.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as necessary for the role.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their welfare is essential.
