The DME Surgery Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the ordering, fitting, and delivery of durable medical equipment (DME) related to surgical procedures. This role serves as the liaison between physicians, surgery centers, patients, and the DME company to ensure timely and accurate delivery of prescribed equipment, while maintaining compliance with insurance and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate DME needs for surgical patients, including braces, supports, mobility aids, and post-operative equipment.
Review physician orders, surgical notes, and patient charts to verify medical necessity.
Communicate with surgery centers, physician offices, and patients to confirm surgery schedules and equipment requirements.
Educate patients on proper use, care, and safety of prescribed DME prior to or following surgery.
Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and ensure documentation is complete prior to equipment delivery.
Schedule fittings and deliveries to align with surgery dates and patient availability.
Maintain accurate records of equipment ordered, delivered, and billed.
Serve as the primary contact for patients and providers regarding DME questions related to surgery.
Monitor inventory and ensure equipment availability for scheduled procedures.
Collaborate with billing and administrative teams to ensure compliance with company, insurance, and regulatory standards.
