Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish
- Assist in menu planning by providing input on ingredient selection and preparation techniques
- Handle food with care, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
- Support food preparation activities, including chopping, marinating, portioning, and assembling ingredients for service
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, ovens, stoves, and other culinary tools
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely meal service and smooth kitchen operations
- Maintain proper food handling procedures during meal preparation, serving, and storage to uphold health regulations
- Contribute to catering events by preparing large quantities of food while maintaining quality standards
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring supplies and notifying management of stock needs
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food industry setting is highly preferred, especially in a culinary or kitchen role
- Demonstrated skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and meal assembly
- Familiarity with dietary department or dietary aide experience is a plus, highlighting knowledge of special dietary needs and restrictions
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in food handling safety practices are essential
- Experience with menu planning or catering services will be advantageous
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
