Our client, a leading national retailer known for its strong consumer brand, innovative business strategies, and guest-focused approach, is seeking a Communications Contractor to provide executive communications support on a temporary basis. This role will partner closely with senior leaders to develop impactful communications, prepare executives for key engagements, and help drive consistent messaging across a fast-paced corporate environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced communications professional who excels at executive storytelling, strategic messaging, and managing multiple senior stakeholders.
Job Description
As a Communications Contractor, you will serve as a trusted communications partner to senior leadership, creating executive-ready content and providing support for a variety of internal and external engagements. You will work across multiple business functions, helping leaders communicate effectively while ensuring messaging aligns with organizational priorities.
Responsibilities
- Draft executive communications, including:
- Talking points
- Speeches
- Scripts
- Leadership emails
- Presentation content
- Other executive communication materials
- Develop leader briefing documents and preparation materials for meetings, presentations, media opportunities, and other engagements
- Provide communications support and staffing for executive meetings, events, panel discussions, and leadership appearances
- Partner with cross-functional teams to gather information, synthesize complex topics, and develop clear, compelling messaging
- Manage communications needs for multiple leaders simultaneously while maintaining high-quality deliverables and responsiveness
- Ensure communications are aligned with business objectives, organizational priorities, and leadership expectations
- Provide strategic communications counsel and recommendations to support executive visibility and engagement efforts
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Experience in corporate communications, executive communications, public relations, or a related communications function
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Experience drafting executive communications, including talking points, emails, speeches, scripts, and presentation materials
- Ability to adapt messaging, tone, and voice for different senior leaders and audiences
- Experience developing leader preparation and briefing materials for high-visibility engagements
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to support multiple executives in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail, professionalism, and sound judgment
- Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting senior executives or C-suite leaders
- Background working within a large corporate, retail, consumer products, or enterprise organization
- Experience staffing leaders during meetings, events, media engagements, or panel discussions
- Ability to quickly understand complex business topics and translate them into clear, audience-focused communications
- Experience providing strategic communications counsel to executive stakeholders
- Proven success working independently and delivering executive-ready materials with minimal oversight
