Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assemble components according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Must be available in the mornings starting at 5am
- Maintain dish pit as it fills with dirty dishes and then dry and put away dishes
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as slicing, dicing, portioning, and cooking ingredients using various kitchen equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, ensuring compliance with safety standards in production and food handling procedures
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, mixers, ovens, and other culinary tools
- Support the culinary team in meal preparation for service, catering events, or special menus
- Follow food safety protocols diligently to prevent contamination and ensure proper food handling practices
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal assembly and meet service deadlines
Requirements
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience in food service or restaurant environments with knowledge of food industry standards
- Strong knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques and ingredient preparation
- Familiarity with menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal preparation processes
- Knowledge of safety standards in production environments and food safety management practices
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining cleanliness standards
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and support team efforts
- Catering experience or serving background is a plus but not required; enthusiasm for the food industry is essential
