Job Summary
As the Production Line Manager, you run the day-to-day assembly operations in EatWell’s manufacturing facility. While the Director of Production handles sourcing and production planning, your job is to manage the physical assembly line and production team. You will ensure that meal kits are packaged correctly, safely, and efficiently. You will manage a team of 10 line workers and a floor foreman. We need a systematic, operations-driven leader who understands material flow, process discipline, and metrics tracking.
Core Responsibilities
1. Staffing & Team Leadership
- Hiring & Reviews: Help interview new workers. Conduct regular performance reviews and give clear, helpful feedback to your team.
- Team Morale: Keep the team motivated. Build a positive, supportive, and hard-working kitchen environment.
- Training: Make sure all workers know how to do their jobs safely. Provide on-the-spot coaching and remind them about safety rules.
2.Resource Management and Production Prep
- Receiving Deliveries: Oversee incoming deliveries and ensure the quality and volumes match our orders.
- Manage Recipes: Keep track of the master recipe copies. Make sure the team always has the right instructions printed out for their stations.
- Daily Game Plan: Finalize the daily and weekly packing plans. Communicate these clearly to the Production Foreman and line workers.
3. Production Execution & Quality Control
- Run the Floor: Manage the start-to-finish production of meal kits. Supervise bulk prep and the box assembly lines.
- Floor Support: Step in to help the line when needed. Fix bottlenecks quickly so the team hits their packing goals.
- Quality Assurance (QC): Be the main person in charge of food and team quality. Stop and fix any bad ingredients or mistakes on the line right away.
- Enforce Rules: Make sure all staff follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), cleanliness rules, and food safety standards every day.
4. Distribution Logistics & Reporting
- Driver Management: Handle daily issues with delivery drivers. Coordinate pickups so the handoff from the kitchen to the driver goes smoothly.
- Data & COGS: Review the daily numbers (units packed, hours worked, etc) collected by the Production Foreman. Upload this COGS data into our tracking system.
- Kitchen Reporting: Report daily and weekly kitchen hours and production yields to upper management.
- Process Improvement: Find ways to make the production line faster and easier for the workers.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Experience: 2 to 4 years of supervisory or team-lead experience in a manufacturing plant, assembly line, packaging facility, high-volume fulfillment center, or large-scale commissary.
- Process Mindset: Strong understanding of metrics, assembly workflows, waste tracking, and line balancing.
- Language Skills: Conversational Spanish is highly preferred to effectively lead and communicate with our diverse line team.
- Technical Skills: Comfortable tracking basic numbers on spreadsheets and utilizing inventory data-entry software.
- Physical Resilience: Able to stand for long shifts, work dynamically in varying facility temperatures, and lift up to 50 pounds when supporting the floor.
- Note to Applicants: Prior experience in food or hospitality is NOT required. We highly welcome supervisors from industrial manufacturing, plastics, consumer goods packaging, fulfillment centers, or assembly plants. If you know how to run a disciplined, safe, and efficient line, we will train you on the food safety components.
