American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level II Trauma facility in Wisconsin, requiring a minimum of 2 years of PACU experience and AHA certifications.

Acute care PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) in a Level II Trauma hospital setting
-
34-bed department operating primarily in Phase 1 recovery, with training available for Phase 2
-
Common cases include robotic prostatectomy, total knee/hip replacement, robotic hysterectomy, and bariatric surgery
-
Nurse-to-patient ratio of 2:1 in Phase 1, with 2–3 CNAs supporting the department

ICU patients bypass PACU and go directly to the unit
-
Charting via Cerner (transitioning to Epic)

Day shift, 9-hour shifts, 72 hours per pay period (4 shifts per week)

Weeknight call required approximately once every 2 weeks; weekend call required approximately every 6 weeks

Call response time required within 1 hour

No holiday call required

Float to Post-op or Pre-op may be required if trained in those areas

13-week contract

Active WI RN license or Compact RN license (must be active by start date)

Current AHA certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS

Minimum 2 years of PACU experience required

Ability to identify and interpret irregular cardiac rhythms

2 professional references required: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant experience

Unit orientation consists of 2–3 shifts

Scrubs are provided by the facility; respectable casual dress is expected to and from work

Candidates who previously worked at this facility as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date

Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local, which may affect travel pay eligibility

Respiratory therapy equipment is brought to the department by RT staff as needed
