Under the supervision of the Medical Director, the Registered Dietitian:
- Plan and implement strategy of care for each patients’ recovery success through: 1 on 1 nutritional counseling, conducting nutritional assessments, goal-setting, and providing supportive accountability.
- Oversee and coordinate patient dietary care for patients with Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa.
- Create and edit meal plans to ensure that meals meet the nutritional needs of patients.
- Provide a variety of foods to help patients succeed in the process of recovery and relapse prevention.
- Evaluate each patient’s individual progress toward attainment of outcomes while following the structure of program with flexibility.
Work with patients to:
- Develop a healthy relationship with food.
- Provide meal support for patients during snack and meal times.
- Dispute eating disordered thoughts with evidence based information, challenging food fears, and providing nutrition experientials.
The Registered Dietitian will:
- Develop lesson plans in collaboration with MD and lead nutritional groups according to the current lesson plans.
- Provide updates to the multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Collaborate with Diet Technician on development of weekly menus, shopping, and preparation of meals.
- Supervise and implement meal service.
- Ensure that the kitchen complies with all guidelines and regulations associated with food safety and sanitation.
*Candidates must have, or be willing to develop, strong therapeutic nutritional skills, be a part of a therapeutic treatment team and enjoy an interdependent work environment.
Qualifications:
- Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential required
- Masters level education from an accredited program. (Bachelor level education if RD status was granted prior to 2024.)
- Maintain CEU’s as required for certification renewals.
- Interest in developing knowledge and skills required in the treatment of eating disorders.
- Excellent communication skills and willingness to participate in on-going training
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters level education from an accredited program.
- Rotation/dietetic internship in a mental health setting.
- Prior experience or dietetic rotation in a mental health setting.
- Ability to develop a weekly menu, budget, shop, and prepare daily meals.
- Understanding and ability to adjust and modify menu based on individual, cultural, and caloric requirements.
Compensation:
Valenta offers a commensurate benefits package including:
