About La Cima
La Cima Elementary Charter School sits at the heart of Bedford-Stuyvesant — one of Brooklyn's most vibrant communities — and has been developing scholars into changemakers since 2008. "La Cima" means the peak of a mountain in Spanish, and everything we do reflects that: we believe every child, regardless of home language, background, or learning need, is capable of reaching their highest potential.
We are a nationally recognized School of Character, guided by our C.A.R.E. principles — Community, Accountability, Reconciliation, and Effective Effort. Our teachers don't just deliver lessons; they build relationships, lead daily community circles, and serve as models of the growth mindset we cultivate in every scholar.
Our approach is rooted in the work of Carol Dweck, Paolo Freire, and Lisa Delpit — educators who believe school is a site for real-world change. If that resonates with you, keep reading.
What You'll Do

- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of English language learners, students with IEPs, and advanced learners — in the same classroom, every day
- Lead daily C.A.R.E. circles that build community and social-emotional skills
- Use data to inform and adjust your teaching — we're a data-driven school, and you'll be supported in doing this well
- Collaborate closely with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and families
- Integrate culturally responsive content that reflects the lives and heritage of our scholars
Who We're Looking For

- Genuine belief that all students can succeed — and the instructional toolkit to back it up
- Comfort with bilingual or dual-language environments a plus
- Someone who sees family engagement as a partnership, not an obligation
