The Fairfield Inn & Suites Charlottesville Downtown/University Area, is looking for an Executive Manager to lead our Housekeeping team! You will be a crucial team member to ensure a successful and satisfactory guest experience!
Position: Executive Housekeeping Manager
Department: Housekeeping/Rooms Division
Reports to: General Manager
Salary Range: $50k - $55k (Based on experience and performance)
The Executive Housekeeper is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all housekeeping operations to ensure guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces consistently meet Marriott brand standards for cleanliness, safety, and presentation. This position leads the housekeeping team, manages labor and inventory costs, ensures compliance with health and safety regulations, and works collaboratively with other departments to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture focused on teamwork, guest satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
- Direct the daily operations of the housekeeping department, including guest rooms, laundry, and public areas.
- Recruit, hire, train, coach, schedule, and evaluate housekeeping staff.
- Conduct daily inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards and quality expectations.
- Develop staffing schedules based on occupancy forecasts while controlling labor costs.
- Monitor room readiness and coordinate closely with the Front Desk to maximize room availability.
- Manage inventory levels for linens, amenities, cleaning chemicals, and housekeeping supplies.
- Order supplies and maintain budget controls to minimize waste and control operating expenses.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and use of cleaning chemicals in accordance with OSHA and safety regulations.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, complaints, and service recovery opportunities.
- Oversee lost and found procedures in accordance with hotel policy.
- Maintain preventative maintenance reporting by identifying and communicating maintenance issues to Engineering or Maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with Marriott operational standards, local health regulations, and company policies.
- Monitor department productivity and implement improvements to increase efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records including inspections, inventories, payroll, scheduling, and training documentation.
- Lead departmental meetings and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
- Assist with preparing and managing the housekeeping department budget.
- Participate in hotel leadership meetings and collaborate with department heads to achieve operational goals.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; hospitality management coursework preferred.
- Minimum 2–3 years of housekeeping management experience, preferably in a Marriott or comparable hotel environment.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience required.
- Knowledge of Marriott brand standards is preferred.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and hotel property management systems (PMS).
- Ability to analyze labor productivity, occupancy forecasts, and departmental budgets.
- Ability to motivate and develop a diverse team while maintaining high service standards.

Physical Requirements
- Frequently walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb stairs throughout the workday.
- Lift, push, pull, or carry up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance when necessary.
- Ability to inspect guest rooms and public areas for extended periods.
- Work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to cleaning chemicals and laundry equipment.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as business demands require.
