About us:
Old Scratch Pizza has been serving the Dayton area for 6+ years and we’re growing… FAST! Here in our production kitchen, we produce fresh sauces, salad dressings, pizza dough, and sausages for all three of our restaurants. We use fresh high-quality ingredients and proprietary recipes to cook all of our food from scratch using straightforward cooking methods, and no preservatives. Everything is made in-house, packaged, and delivered to each restaurant with the highest standards for quality, freshness, and safety.

What you bring to the table:
- Proven experience as a prep cook or in a similar role in a restaurant or culinary setting
- Training in food safety, demonstrated by clean & sanitary work practices

- Ability to read recipes and detailed instructions
- Ability to stand for 8 hours and lift up to 50 pounds
What your work day might look like:
- Help supervise the daily activities of the prep kitchen team, ensuring the efficient execution of all food preparation tasks
- Conduct inventory checks regularly to ensure stock levels are accurate and notify the appropriate personnel when additional supplies are needed
- Mentor prep kitchen staff on proper food preparation techniques, portion control, and adherence to food safety standards
- Put away and organize all food deliveries
- Coordinate and delegate prep tasks
- Clean and sanitize before and between all projects - including cleaning appliances, and maintaining organization in the storage areas
Work Environment:
This job entails frequent exposure to high temperatures and extreme cold. There is frequent contact/immersion of hands in water and sanitation solutions; as well as contact with produce items, dairy products, and frequent allergen related items such as nuts, citrus, gluten, etc.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds, may be required to stock inventory and supplies.
- Have good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination, may be required to operate and use various kitchen equipment and tools.
- Have good vision and hearing, you will need to communicate effectively with staff and customers, and monitor the restaurant operations.
It is important that applicants are able to meet these physical requirements to perform the duties of the job. There is substantial repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers. Must be able to maneuver in walk-in coolers and freezers.
