Salary: $135,000 - $165,000
Schedule: 4 days/week in office
Highlights of the Controller Opportunity
The Company: A well-established professional services organization with a collaborative culture, long-tenured employees, and a strong reputation in its industry.

The Transition: The current Controller is retiring after more than 20 years with the organization. The incoming Controller will receive approximately five months of cross-training and knowledge transfer to support a smooth succession.
The Opportunity: Reporting directly to the CFO/Co-Founder, the Controller will lead all accounting and financial operations, oversee a small accounting team, and serve as a strategic business partner to leadership. This role offers a blend of hands-on accounting ownership and high-level financial planning responsibilities.
The Controller's Responsibilities

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.

Prepare and review financial statements, account reconciliations, and reporting packages.

Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis.

Oversee billing, collections, accounts payable, payroll, and expense management.

Monitor project profitability, revenue recognition, and job costing activities.

Develop KPIs, financial dashboards, and management reporting for leadership.

Coordinate external audits, tax preparation, and compliance activities.

Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes.

Administer NetSuite and support reporting and process automation initiatives.

Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while partnering with leaders across the organization.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

CPA preferred but not required.

8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and audit coordination.

Background in project-based, agency, consulting, or professional services environments preferred.

Previous leadership experience managing accounting staff.

Advanced Excel and NetSuite experience required.

Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
