Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, oral surgery, prosthodontics, and more.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and materials according to infection prevention management protocols.
- Take dental radiographs (X-ray) and operate medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners with precision and adherence to safety standards.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Archy, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes.
- Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Conduct dental instrument processing and sterilization procedures following strict aseptic techniques to uphold clinical confidentiality policies.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding all medical documentation and maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information.
- Uphold healthcare infection prevention and control standards through meticulous infection control practices across all clinical activities.
Skills
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Archy, Eaglesoft, or Epic for efficient medical documentation.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across various specialties including prosthodontics and oral surgery.
- Experience operating dental X-ray equipment safely while adhering to radiation safety protocols.
- Expertise in dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management to ensure a sterile environment at all times.
- Skilled in dental instrument processing and aseptic technique to prevent cross-contamination.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with medical imaging techniques accurately.
- Excellent communication skills suitable for working with diverse patient populations and capable of explaining procedures clearly and compassionately.
- Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention policies.
