Position Overview
We are seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support our food service operations at our camp and conference center. In this role, you'll be an essential part of creating a welcoming, nourishing environment for our guests. You'll work alongside our kitchen team to prepare meals, maintain cleanliness standards, and contribute to the hospitality that makes our camp special.
Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation: Assist with washing, peeling, chopping, and preparing ingredients for meals. Follow recipes and preparation standards as directed.
- Cooking Support: Help with cooking, plating, and presenting meals in an appealing way that shows care for our guests.
- Kitchen Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen by washing dishes, wiping down surfaces, sweeping, and mopping. Ensure food storage areas are sanitary and well-organized.
- Food Safety: Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature management.
- Inventory & Supplies: Assist with basic inventory checks, restocking supplies, and organizing the pantry and storage areas.
- Meal Service: Help set up for meals, serve food with a warm and attentive demeanor, and clean up afterward.
- Guest Interaction: Greet campers and staff with genuine hospitality, answer questions about meals, and accommodate dietary needs and preferences with care.
- Team Support: Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations and meet meal deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Basic cooking and kitchen skills (food prep, cooking fundamentals, kitchen equipment operation)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Food Handler's Card or willingness to obtain one
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety
- Friendly, service-oriented attitude with a genuine desire to care for our guests
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen, food service, or hospitality setting
- Experience working in a camp or group dining environment
- Familiarity with large-batch meal preparation

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
