This is a small agency, so deputies conduct their own investigations as well as enforce Montana traffic laws. Deputies have to be able to write case reports and search warrants. Deputies are required to testify in court.
Deputies are provided all duty gear and uniforms except boots. Deputies have a take home patrol vehicle.
Deputies must meet Montana Code Annotated 7-32-2104 standards. Candidates must pass a background investigation. Non-certified candidates must pass a written exam. New hires that are not certified must attend the Montana Law Enforcement Academy within one year of hire.
Deputies work 8 hours shifts that rotate every 8 weeks.
County employee housing available: Townhouse: 2 bedrooms $725 + utilities, 3 bedrooms 925 + utilities.
