Job Summary
Provide advanced support for departmental data projects. Write queries and scripts to perform detailed validation to ensure the accuracy of analyses, visualizations, reports and publications produced by the department. Collaborate with team members to analyze stakeholder requirements. Design and implement complex data products to support the rapidly expanding data analytic needs of the University.
Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks
Gather, extract, transform and analyze data from various systems and sources to complete assigned projects.

Perform ongoing, detailed and comprehensive testing and documentation of departmental projects.

Ensure superior data integrity by developing strategies to identify data errors and work with data custodians to determine root causes and clean up the source.

Create ad hoc and recurring reports and data management tasks, as assigned.

Stay abreast of changes in academic offerings and university business processes which may trigger a need for updates to data management or reports.

Actively pursue professional development and cultivate skills with current and future tools and technologies.

Participate in professional organizations and university committees or work groups.
-
Assist with special projects.

Serve as backup for other staff members and take the initiative on new tasks and assignments.

Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree.

Two (2) years’ database and programming experience.

May accept a combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education/Experience
Master’s degree.

Higher education knowledge.

Experience with financial analysis of data sets.
Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies
Extensive knowledge of and proficiency in various spreadsheet, database and financial analysis software that requires a high level of computer literacy and aptitude.

Proficiency in writing queries and scripts using tools such as PS Query, SQL Developer, Toad.

Exceptional knowledge of institutional research, assessment or business intelligence.

Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
