We are seeking a reliable and experienced Dump Truck Driver to join our growing team. The Dump Truck Driver will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting various materials, including but not limited to, aggregates (sand, gravel, stone), asphalt, dirt, and demolition debris, to and from construction sites, quarries, landfills, and other designated locations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and a solid understanding of commercial vehicle operation and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Vehicle Operation: Operate a dump truck in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all traffic laws, company policies, and DOT regulations.
- Material Transport: Load, transport, and unload various materials as directed, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement of loads.
- Pre-Trip/Post-Trip Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the dump truck, identifying and reporting any defects, malfunctions, or maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintenance & Cleanliness: Maintain the cleanliness of the truck cab. Perform basic maintenance tasks such as checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and lights.
- Site Navigation: Navigate to various job sites, quarries, and disposal facilities, often in challenging terrain or congested areas.
- Documentation: Accurately complete daily logs, pre-trip/post-trip inspection reports, time sheets, delivery tickets, and other required paperwork.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with dispatchers, site supervisors, co-workers, and clients regarding schedules, routes, and potential issues.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Problem Solving: Identify and report any unsafe conditions or hazards at job sites.
- Customer Service: Represent the company professionally while interacting with clients and the public.
Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- CDL: Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an airbrake endorsement.
- Driving Record: Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 years of verifiable experience operating a dump truck (preferred).
- Physical Ability: Ability to perform physical tasks associated with the job, including climbing into and out of the truck, securing loads, and occasional lifting.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics for routine inspections and minor troubleshooting.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills.
- Reliability: Punctual and reliable with a strong work ethic.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically and solve problems under pressure.
- Safety-Conscious: Demonstrated commitment to safety.
- Team Oriented: Ability to work as a team member to get the job done each day for our customers. May require working extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends, depending on project demands.
