Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair marine engines, electrical systems, and mechanical components using schematics, technical drawings, and diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and calipers
- Perform routine maintenance on marine propulsion systems, electrical wiring, rigging, sheet metal fabrication, welding, soldering, and heavy lifting tasks
- Interpret technical manuals and schematics to accurately assemble or disassemble mechanical systems and electrical circuits
- Conduct inspections of ship electrical systems, water transportation equipment, and mechanical systems to identify issues early and prevent failures
- Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and fabrication equipment to execute repairs efficiently
- Maintain detailed service records, maintenance logs, and incident reports in compliance with safety protocols
- Adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) use guidelines while performing maintenance tasks to ensure safety for yourself and your team
Experience
- Proven service technician experience with a strong background in marine or vehicle maintenance is highly preferred
- Hands-on experience with marine engine repair, electrical diagnostics, ship electrical systems maintenance, and marine propulsion systems is essential
- Familiarity with interpreting schematics, technical drawings, and troubleshooting engineering issues in a marine environment
- Knowledge of water transportation equipment maintenance including diesel mechanics and mechanical systems repair
- Experience working with military-grade equipment or in military settings is a plus but not required
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, calipers, sheet metal fabrication tools, and precision measuring instruments
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining high standards of quality and safety protocols
