Job Title: Director of Youth Ministry
General Description of Position
This position coordinates and focuses on the spiritual enrichment and engagement of the youth of Rejoice!. This position will develop, organize and evaluate ministry and educational programs for youth (5th grade through senior high and college age) and integrate these programs with the intergenerational ministry of the church.
Required Qualifications
- Active Christian faith and a commitment to the mission, values, and theology consistent with the Lutheran tradition.
- Ability to articulate and communicate the mission of Rejoice! Lutheran Church.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with youth, families, and volunteers in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to develop, implement, and sustain ministry programming.
- Commitment to fostering a safe environment for youth, including compliance with Safeguarding God’s Children policies.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends, including Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings, as well as retreats, trips, and events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coordinating youth ministry and/or Christian education programs.
- Familiarity with Lutheran theology, practices, and youth ministry resources.
- Experience recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers.
- Experience leading service projects, mission trips, or youth events.
- Bachelor’s degree in ministry, education, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Passion for intergenerational ministry and faith formation across life stages.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and coordinate the various youth and intergenerational events and service projects to support the mission and goals of Rejoice! Lutheran Church.
- Develop, coordinate and oversee the youth educational program (5th grade through senior high and college age) in relationship to their Christian development.
- Recruit, train, schedule and support volunteers related to youth programming. This will include youth ministry programs, events, and intergenerational ministry efforts. Includes participation in reviewing and updating educational programs, materials, and events.
- Coordinate and oversee youth, high school, and graduate/alumni outreach and ministry programs along with intergenerational ministry events.
- Communicate with the congregation regarding education and ministry events through various communication channels.
- Be present at Rejoice! on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings and attend camps, events, and trips to provide a consistent presence for youth and support for volunteers.
- Follow and implement Safeguarding God’s Children policy in all youth events.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
