Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Paint Prepper to join our automotive body shop team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing vehicles for painting, ensuring high-quality finishes, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in auto body repair, auto painting, or related mechanical skills to contribute to a fast-paced and professional setting. Prior dealership experience, welding skills, and mechanical knowledge are highly desirable. The Paint Prepper will play a vital role in vehicle restoration and customer satisfaction by ensuring all vehicles are properly prepped before painting.
Responsibilities
- Masking and taping vehicles to protect surfaces during painting processes
- Sanding, grinding, and smoothing surfaces using hand tools and power tools
- Applying primer, filler, and other preparatory coatings using airless paint spraying equipment
- Buffing and polishing vehicle surfaces to achieve a flawless finish
- Inspecting vehicles for imperfections and performing minor auto body repairs as needed
- Assisting with auto glass installation or replacement when required
- Maintaining cleanliness of work area and proper storage of tools and materials
- Collaborating with team members to ensure timely completion of vehicle prep work
- Adhering to safety protocols related to heavy lifting, chemical handling, and equipment use
Requirements
- Prior experience in dealership auto body shops or auto restoration preferred
- Knowledge of auto body repair, auto painting, detailing, and vehicle maintenance techniques
- Experience with welding, buffing, airless paint spraying, power tools, and hand tools
- Mechanical knowledge related to vehicle systems and auto glass installation
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Strong customer service skills when interacting with clients or team members
- Auto estimating experience is a plus but not required
- Mechanic experience is advantageous for understanding vehicle structures and repairs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
- Commitment to safety standards and quality workmanship
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
