Duties
- Install new HVAC systems including air conditioning units, furnaces and ventilation equipment in residential properties.
- Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and HVAC design plans to ensure accurate system setup.
- Conduct system diagnostics using electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters to identify issues with electrical components and wiring.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems by performing repairs on HVAC systems, refrigeration units, plumbing connections, and electrical systems.
- Perform routine maintenance on HVAC equipment to optimize performance and extend lifespan.
- Use hand tools and welding equipment to assemble or repair mechanical systems as needed.
- Communicate clearly with customers to explain system functions, maintenance procedures, and answer any questions professionally.
Requirements
- Proven construction experience with a strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with building automation systems.
- Service technician experience in HVAC or related fields such as appliance repair or property maintenance.
- Knowledge of schematics, HVAC design principles, refrigeration systems including ammonia refrigeration, and plumbing.
- Ability to diagnose electrical issues using diagnostic tools like ohmmeters and perform electrical repairs confidently.
- Experience with HVAC system installation, repair, and maintenance including boilers and mechanical systems repair.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to operate a company vehicle safely at all times.
- EPA certification for handling refrigerants; additional certifications in HVAC/R or welding are a plus.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Mechanical knowledge of HVAC system components such as compressors, condensers, ductwork, thermostats, and building automation controls.
