Position Summary
The Kitchen Attendant plays an essential role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by preparing high-quality food in a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen. This position is responsible for food preparation, executing orders during service, maintaining food safety standards, cleaning, stocking, and supporting the kitchen team. Successful team members are dependable, work well under pressure, communicate effectively, and take pride in producing consistent, quality food.
Essential ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation
- Prepare ingredients according to standardized recipes and portion specifications.
- Wash, chop, slice, portion, and label ingredients for daily service.
- Prepare sauces, dressings, pizzas, sandwiches, salads, charcuterie, and other menu items as assigned.
- Ensure prep lists are completed accurately and efficiently before service.
- Rotate product using FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices.
Service Execution
- Prepare menu items accurately and efficiently during lunch, dinner, brunch, and special events.
- Maintain quality and presentation standards on every plate.
- Communicate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely order completion.
- Work efficiently during high-volume periods while maintaining accuracy.
- Assist with catering, winery events, and private functions when needed.
Food Safety & Sanitation
- Follow all Wisconsin Food Code regulations and Timber Hill Winery food safety procedures.
- Maintain proper food temperatures during storage, preparation, and service.
- Prevent cross-contamination by following safe food handling practices.
- Properly label and date all food products.
- Complete daily cleaning and sanitation tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout each shift.
Kitchen Operations
- Wash dishes and maintain clean cookware, utensils, and equipment.
- Stock kitchen supplies throughout the shift.
- Notify management of low inventory or equipment issues.
- Assist with receiving and properly storing deliveries.
- Complete opening and closing checklists thoroughly.
- Help maintain overall cleanliness of kitchen, walk-in cooler, freezer, storage areas, and prep stations.
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with kitchen and tasting room staff.
- Maintain a positive attitude during busy periods.
- Be willing to assist wherever needed to support the team.
- Accept coaching and feedback professionally.
- Demonstrate flexibility by performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous kitchen or food service experience preferred but not required.
- Food Safety Certification is preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and carrying.
- Comfortable working in hot and cold kitchen environments.
- Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment.
