Roots Dental in Bellingham is seeking a skilled and compassionate General Dentist to join our top-tier practice. This is considered full-time, at 4 days per week. We rotate our days M-Th one week and T-F the following week, to give us a four-day weekend every other week, it could be three days for the right person.
About Us: Led by Dr. Joshua Clarkman, DDS, and supported by a stellar team (most of our team has been here since Dr. Clarkman purchased the practice from Dr. Jef Frere in 2020, turnover is very rare). Roots Dental is known for outstanding clinical care and a drama-free, supportive work environment. Dr. Clarkman places Straumann implants (immediate and two staged), administers IV sedation, Dentsply Wave one Endodontics, full mouth rehabs, Veneers, AOX, wisdom tooth removal (fully impacted), We do not mill any restorations. We work directly with a family owned lab in WA state. Our office was formerly “Frere Smile Design,” and has been fully modernized since 2020—digitally driven, fully equipped with Adec chairs with electric handpieces, 2x iTero scanners, Trios 5 scanner, photogrammetry, 3D printing (sprint Ray), and a dedicated team of professionals committed to excellence. The practice has been designed from a team and equipment perspective to accommodate two providers.
We offer:
- 8 modern operatories including brand-new restorative/surgical and hygiene suites
- Photography room
- State-of-the-art technology (CT/PANO (vatech), 2x iTero scanners, Trios 5, 3D printer (Sprint Ray))
- Bio-PRF, we are a CARE Aesthetics provider and we are actively building a facial esthetics program microneedling, bio-filler, HA (mainly for lips), Botox, and a DEKA laser
- This is not something that will affect the new clinician or will be a requirement, but the option is there if the new provider is interested.
- DEKA CO2 laser for sleep apnea, facial esthetics, and general dentistry
- Highly skilled support team: 3 hygienists, 6 assistants, 2 office directors, a treatment coordinator, 2 front desk, and an insurance coordinator. As we have grown we have only hired team members with extensive experience.
- Strong team culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and mutual respect. We want a fun chill vibe at the office. We don’t tolerate any gossip, drama, and we’ve been fortunate to not have to deal with these issues that most offices do.
- We are a very communitive team and thrive on transparency.
- Plan to build a brand-new facility in the next 3 years in Bellingham. Dr. Clarkman does not believe dentistry should be crammed into the smallest space like you see most offices trying to maximize square footage. It’s not healthy for the team and does not set the right experience. We have built this office to accommodate two doctors. Once we find a second doctor, we plan to build a new office, specifically for dentistry.
Compensation:
- Competitive guaranteed daily minimum opportunity for additional production-based pay
- Compensation is structured to reward quality, consistency, and growth
- We are booking new patients into next year and slowly changing the practice over to a fee for service practice. We currently accept minimal insurances and the schedule is templated to optimize production and maximize fee for service patients.
What We’re Looking For:
- A General Dentist with 3+ years of experience. We are not requiring a clinician to be able to do all the treatment that Dr. Clarkman is able to perform. General restorative dentistry is absolutely enough. Our biggest goal is to find someone to collaborate with Dr. Clarkman and help meet the demand that we have. Dr. Clarkman is hoping to grow the AOX, full mouth rehab, veneer, and facial esthetics part of the business. If a clinician is looking for growth, we will be happy to nurture it.
- Someone that takes pride in their clinical work and maintains high standards of care. Because we do not hire directly out of school, our assistants and hygienists are seasoned and very knowledgeable and will be aware of your work. Perfection is not possible and things happen but we will be monitoring the work for the first few months and consistency of quality should be seen. We understand that in the beginning you will be just trying to get comfortable and we will add more time for the appointments and keep the schedule comfortable.

- Dr. Clarkman attends a lot of CE. This year alone he’s been to 3x Bio-PRF courses. Nobel/Osteogenics bone grafting symposium, and Dr. apa’s veneer symposium.
