About the Role
The Beamline Welding Robot Rework Technician manages the full lifecycle of automated robotic welding systems, including setup, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting for structural steel production. This position is vital for identifying and correcting robotic weld defects, ensuring that all components adhere to strict engineering specifications and quality benchmarks.
We are seeking candidates who possess a strong background in robotic welding operations, manual MIG techniques, blueprint interpretation, and routine equipment maintenance within a production setting.
Your Responsibilities-
Configure, program, and oversee the daily operation of robotic welding cells.

Load structural components and beams into designated welding fixtures.

Secure workpieces using jigs to guarantee precise weld positioning.

Optimize robot welding parameters like travel speed and sequence to meet engineering requirements.

Update robot programming and positioning with management oversight.
-
Maintain proficiency in Tool Center Point calibration and torch positioning.
-
Perform essential torch maintenance, such as swapping out contact tips, nozzles, and gas distributors.
-
Resolve robot errors and welding issues to help maintain consistent production flow.

Execute manual MIG repairs on robotic welds to ensure the final product meets AWS and client quality standards.

Grind and finish welds to achieve the required surface quality.

Analyze blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings to guide production.
-
Conduct thorough dimensional and visual inspections using tape measures, weld gauges, calipers, measuring stations, and automated inspection cameras.

Validate that all components meet fit-up and quality standards before moving them to the next stage.

Develop or adjust welding jigs to help increase overall production quality and efficiency.

Execute regular preventive maintenance tasks on all robotic welding machinery.

Record all production data, maintenance logs, quality checks, and rework details.

Uphold a tidy workspace while strictly following all safety protocols and PPE guidelines.

Partner with quality and maintenance teams to help drive improvements in robotic welding processes.
Qualifications-
High school diploma or GED is required.

Vocational or technical training in robotics or welding is preferred.

Certification in manual welding is mandatory.
-
AWS Welding Certification is a plus.

Demonstrated experience running robotic welding systems in a manufacturing setting.

Background in heavy manufacturing, roll forming, or structural steel is preferred.

Proven ability to troubleshoot robotic welding cells.

Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, fabrication prints, and weld symbols.

Experience utilizing precision inspection tools and measuring equipment.

Capability to fabricate or modify welding jigs and fixtures.
-
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
-
Basic computer literacy for managing production documentation and robot controllers.
-
Experience with Siemens PLC-based equipment is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications-
Experience with robotic systems from ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa/Motoman, or Panasonic.
