Position Overview:
The Operations Supervisor of Fine Art Print is responsible for overseeing the entire production and operational processes involved in the creation, handling, and delivery of fine art prints. This role involves managing production workflows, ensuring quality control, coordinating with clients and vendors, and leading a team to meet production deadlines. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of print production, materials, and a passion for fine art.
Key Responsibilities:
Print Production Supervisor:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the fine art print production process.
- Supervise all aspects of print production, including digital printing, offset printing, screen printing, and other fine art techniques.
- Ensure quality control measures are in place at every stage of production.
- Monitor production schedules to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Collaborate with artists and clients to understand project specifications, ensuring the final product meets or exceeds expectations.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage the production team, providing guidance, training, and support.
- Schedule and delegate tasks to team members to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging professional development and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback for team growth.
Vendor and Supplier Coordination:
- Manage relationships with vendors and suppliers, including paper suppliers, ink manufacturers, and equipment maintenance providers.
- Evaluate and source new vendors to enhance print quality, cost-efficiency, and service.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies needed for print production.
Quality Control:
- Implement and maintain strict quality control processes to ensure prints meet industry standards.
- Conduct routine checks on print quality, color accuracy, and material consistency.
- Address and resolve any issues with print production, ensuring that final prints are of the highest quality.
Budget and Cost Management:
- Develop and manage the department’s operational budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently.
- Monitor production costs and make adjustments to maintain profitability.
- Track expenses related to production materials, equipment, and labor costs.
- Approve and manage invoices related to print production, supplies, and services.
Client Relations and Communication:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients regarding print orders, production timelines, and quality concerns.
- Communicate with clients to understand specific print requirements and ensure their expectations are met.
- Provide updates on production progress and notify clients of any delays or changes.
- Ensure excellent customer service, resolving any client complaints or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Process Optimization and Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and improve production workflows and processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Implement best practices for handling and storing printed materials to ensure quality and preservation.
- Stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends in fine art print production to improve processes and offerings.
- Health and Safety Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the production environment.
- Maintain a safe working environment for all employees by adhering to industry standards and regulations.
- Provide necessary safety training and ensure all team members follow proper protocols for equipment handling and material storage.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Arts, Printmaking, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience:
- 5-7 years of experience in fine art print production or a related field.
- Proven track record of managing print production processes, including digital and traditional printing techniques.
- Experience in managing budgets, schedules, and teams.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of fine art print production processes and techniques.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
- Attention to detail with a focus on quality control.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in print production software and design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands:
