Indigo Construction is seeking experienced Utilities Construction Laborers to join our growing team. We are looking for dependable, hardworking individuals with hands-on underground utility construction experience who take pride in producing quality work and maintaining a safe jobsite.
This position involves physically demanding outdoor work supporting underground utility installation projects. Candidates should be comfortable working in varying weather conditions and as part of a fast-paced construction crew.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position. The typical work schedule is Monday through Saturday, generally from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00–6:00 p.m. Start and end times may vary based on project needs, workload, weather conditions, and operational requirements. Flexibility to work extended hours, as needed, is expected.
Responsibilities
· Assist with the installation of underground utility systems, including water, sewer, and storm drain.
· Perform trenching, digging, grading, backfilling, and other general labor duties.
· Assist with pipe installation and utility line placement.
· Load, unload, transport, and organize construction materials.
· Safely operate and maintain hand tools and work around construction equipment.
· Support equipment operators and foremen to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
· Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
· Maintain a clean and organized jobsite.
Required Qualifications
· Previous construction experience is required.
· Underground utility construction experience is strongly preferred.
· Experience performing utility construction tasks such as trenching, pipe installation, material handling, excavation support, and site preparation.
· Experience working in construction environments such as utilities, roadway, concrete, commercial, residential, or site development.
· Experience working safely around heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, or similar machinery.
· Experience using construction hand tools and other jobsite equipment.
· Must be able to safely perform physically demanding work outdoors and withstand prolonged exposure to the South Texas heat while following all company heat illness prevention and safety procedures.
· Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, dig, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
· Willingness to work overtime, extended hours, and weekends when project schedules require.
· Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
· Reliable attendance and dependability.
· Ability to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team.
· English, Spanish, or bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
· Previous experience installing underground water, sewer, or storm utility systems.
· Familiarity with construction safety practices and excavation safety.
· Experience working on utility, roadway, or civil construction projects.
