About the Position:
We are seeking an experienced Autodesk Fabrication CADmep Database Manager to create, maintain, test, document, and deploy the company's ITM-based fabrication content for sheet metal, mechanical piping, and plumbing systems. This position translates company standards, fabrication requirements, manufacturer data, and user needs into reliable Autodesk Fabrication database content used by VDC, estimating, fabrication, and field teams. The role is focused exclusively on database administration and ITM content development; project modeling, clash coordination, shop drawing production, spooling, and field layout are not responsibilities of this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Autodesk Fabrication CADmep database content, including ITMs, patterns, product lists, materials, specifications, connectors, and fabrication properties.
- Develop and maintain standardized fabrication services, templates, libraries, and database structures that support sheet metal, mechanical piping, plumbing, and related trades.
- Test, validate, and deploy database updates to ensure compatibility with CADmep, Revit Fabrication Parts, CAMduct, shop fabrication systems, reports, and downstream workflows.
- Troubleshoot database, connectivity, sizing, reporting, and fabrication content issues while identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Manage database integrity through version control, documentation, backups, testing, change management, and controlled deployment processes.
- Review, prioritize, and implement database enhancements while maintaining production stability and minimizing operational disruption.
- Audit and maintain database standards by eliminating obsolete or duplicate content and ensuring consistency across company and trade-specific environments.
- Collaborate with VDC, estimating, fabrication, field operations, purchasing, software vendors, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to support database development and continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain documentation, standards, training materials, and user guides while providing technical support for database content and functionality.
- Interpret technical drawings, fabrication standards, specifications, manufacturer documentation, and user requirements to create accurate, production-ready fabrication content.
Qualifications:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) or more years of Autodesk Fabrication CADmep database administration, ITM development, or related fabrication database experience.
- Proficiency creating and modifying Autodesk Fabrication ITMs and database content within CADmep.
- Working knowledge of commercial sheet metal, mechanical piping, and plumbing fabrication methods and installation practices.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, fabrication standards, specifications, manufacturer documentation, and related technical information.
- Strong understanding of database testing, documentation, version control, backup, and deployment best practices.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining database accuracy, consistency, and production stability.
Preferred
- Experience with sheet metal, piping, plumbing, fabrication shop operations, detailing, or fabrication content development.
- Experience supporting Revit Fabrication Parts, CAMduct, Trimble FABShop, or similar fabrication workflows.
- Experience managing multiple fabrication databases, database migrations, software upgrades, automated testing, reporting, scripting, or data management tools.
