Position Summary
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating quality assurance activities within an automotive manufacturing facility and a secondary plant. This role ensures products meet internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations while driving continuous improvement across processes. The Quality Supervisor provides hands-on leadership to quality the quality team and works cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support daily activities of quality technicians and inspectors on the production floor.
- Ensure compliance with automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, customer-specific requirements)
- Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics (PPM, scrap, rework, warranty) and implement corrective actions.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions using tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, and PFMEA
- Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure product conformance.
- Support internal and external audits, including customer and third-party audits.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
- Review and approve control plans, work instructions, and inspection standards.
- Train and mentor quality team members on procedures, problem-solving methods, and quality tools.
- Ensure nonconforming material is properly identified, contained, and dispositioned.
- Promote a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement throughout the plant.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing quality
- IATF 16949 internal auditor certification
- Previous supervisory or team-lead experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive quality systems and core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA)
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Effective communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality reporting systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent continuous improvement training
- Experience working directly with OEMs and Tier 1 customers.
- Hands-on experience with launch support and new product introduction
