The Town of Hatfield Massachusetts, through its Select Board, is seeking qualified applicants for a Fire Chief. Hatfield has a population of roughly 3,100, a total area of 16.83 sq. miles and is directly accessible by Interstate Rt. 91 and Rts. 5 & 10. The combined Fire/Ambulance /Emergency Management Department has a budgeted staff of two full time firefighters/EMTs in addition to the Chief and a roster of call and per-diem firefighters and emergency medical technicians. The Fire Chief is responsible for all functions associated with the daily operation of the Department, including oversight of Emergency Management and development of plans, procedures, and exercises. Chief provides EMT coverage during regular shift, prepares budget and plans long-term capital improvements and capital equipment. Candidate must possess the following certifications: Firefighter I/II, Fire Officer I, EMT Basic Responder (EMT Advanced or Paramedic preferred), Fire Prevention Officer/Basic, Fire Prevention Level I is preferred, Hazard Materials Awareness, NIMS-ICS 700, 100, 200, 300 and 400 is desirable. Certification for Fire Officer II and Instructor I, preferred. Accreditation with MA Fire Service Commission preferred or attain within six months of hire; or any other state required certifications. A valid Massachusetts Drivers License is required. Applications will be accepted until position is filled.
