OPERATIONS MANAGER
POSITION OVERVIEW
Juneau Cleaning is seeking a dependable, hands-on Operations Manager to oversee our in-person operations in Juneau. This person will assume many of the owner’s current local responsibilities while reporting directly to the owner. The owner will retain final authority over major company decisions.
The ideal candidate is organized, professional, responsive, and supportive. This person should lead through competence, teamwork, and respect—not dominance—and help employees work together to provide consistently excellent service.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct approximately 3–10 in-person cleaning assessments per week.
- Review assessment details and approve quotes within assigned authority.
- Perform and document quality-control checks at cleaning jobs.
- Contact customers several times per week to confirm satisfaction.
- Conduct reference checks for prospective employees.
- Onboard and train new team members.
- Complete a second review of timesheets after the initial virtual assistant review.
- Communicate field updates and concerns to office staff and the owner.
- Pick up and distribute employee supplies every two weeks.
- Order supplies monthly and place additional orders as needed.
- Order and organize approved equipment and uniforms.
- Maintain vacuum filters, cleaning equipment, supplies, and inventory records.
- Manage company keys and document every key transfer.
- Keep the storage unit secure, organized, and properly inventoried.
- Maintain company flyers on approved public bulletin boards.
- Assist with or fill in on cleanings when last-minute call-offs leave a job uncovered.
- Maintain accurate operational logs and submit regular reports to the owner.
LEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
The Operations Manager is expected to:
- Support the cleaning team and help employees succeed.
- Communicate clearly, calmly, and respectfully.
- Address quality concerns without creating unnecessary conflict.
- Take initiative and solve practical field problems.
- Promote teamwork and shared responsibility for completing jobs correctly.
- Represent Juneau Cleaning professionally with customers, employees, vendors, and community members.
- Use sound judgment whenever identifiable as a representative of the company.
- Keep the owner informed without requiring the owner to manage every local detail.
TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
Advanced technology skills are not required. However, the Operations Manager must accurately use company apps and systems to review schedules, document assessments and quality checks, approve quotes, review timesheets, upload notes and photos, track keys and inventory, and communicate with office staff.
Computer skills and previous business, operations, management, or leadership experience are preferred.
TRANSPORTATION AND AVAILABILITY
Applicants must have a valid driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and current automobile insurance. This person must be able to travel throughout Juneau and transport ordinary cleaning supplies and equipment.
The Operations Manager must be consistently available during established working hours and reasonably available on short notice for urgent field needs and last-minute cleaning coverage.
Mileage between assigned work locations is reimbursed according to company policy.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This is an active position. The Operations Manager must be able to inspect properties, transport supplies and equipment, carry vacuums, climb stairs, and perform professional cleaning duties when emergency coverage is needed.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Success in this position will be measured by:
- A goal of zero preventable touch-ups.
- A goal of zero substantiated customer complaints regarding performance.
- Assigned assessments completed and documented by the required deadline.
- Quotes reviewed within the company’s required turnaround time.
- Quality-control checks completed and documented as assigned.
- Consistent attendance, punctuality, reliability, and availability during working hours.
- Customer-satisfaction calls completed and documented each week.
- New-hire reference checks, onboarding, and training completed accurately.
- Timesheet second reviews completed by every payroll deadline.
- Biweekly supply distribution and monthly supply ordering completed on time.
- Supplies, uniforms, equipment, and storage-unit inventory kept organized and current.
- Equipment properly maintained and concerns reported promptly.
- Every key transfer documented, with a goal of zero missing or unaccounted-for keys.
- Operational logs kept accurate and current.
- Required reports submitted to the owner on time.
- Assigned public bulletin boards checked and flyers maintained.
- Team members working together respectfully to complete jobs according to company standards.
- Emergency cleaning coverage provided or coordinated whenever reasonably possible.
Success in this role means the team is supported, customers are satisfied, jobs consistently meet company standards, and Juneau Cleaning’s in-person operations remain organized and dependable without the owner being physically present.
