Duties
- Assist dentists with chairside procedures across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics, ensuring efficient workflow.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, managing dental instrument processing, and adhering to infection prevention management protocols.
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while maintaining strict compliance with dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Open Dental, document medical history, vital signs, and treatment details accurately in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ensure clinical confidentiality policies are followed diligently to protect patient information at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by following infection control standards and dental sterilization procedures.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental terminology, and anatomy knowledge relevant to oral health.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Open Dental for managing medical records and documentation.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention management, healthcare infection control expertise, and aseptic technique.
- Knowledge of dental x-ray procedures, including dental radiography and oral surgery imaging.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment accurately and support medical imaging processes.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
